Girl, six, hit by car on pedestrian crossing in Dorset

A six year-old girl was seriously hurt when she was struck by a car at a pedestrian crossing in Dorset.

The girl was on the crossing in Weston Road, Portland, with a three-year-old boy and another girl, when she was hit by a Toyota, at 08:44 BST.

She was taken to Dorchester Hospital with serious injuries. The boy suffered minor injuries and the other girl, whose age is unknown, was unhurt.

The driver, a 30-year-old woman, was not hurt in the crash, police said.
