Weymouth man dies after fall near to Duke of Albany pub

A 44-year-old man has died after falling over in the street and hitting his head near to a pub in Weymouth.

The local man, who has not yet been named, died in hospital after falling on Turton Street near to the Duke of Albany in Melcombe Regis at about 20:00 BST on Sunday.

Dorset Police have arrested a 25-year-old man following the incident.

Det Insp Stewart Dipple said there were several people in the area at the time and has appealed for witnesses.

"This is a very sad incident and we are keen to establish the facts", he said.

"We would very much like to speak to anyone who has any information that may help us determine exactly what happened."
