Woman dies in Weymouth traffic queue crash

A 78-year-old woman has died after becoming ill and crashing her car into a queue of traffic in Dorset.

She was driving a Volkswagen Fox, which crashed into the back of a Mercedes waiting at traffic lights at the Swannery Road junction in Weymouth.

The Mercedes then collided with the car in front, a Nissan, but the drivers of both were uninjured.

Police said "it became apparent that the VW driver was unwell". She died at the scene.

A doctor and two nurses, who were passing, tried to help resuscitate the woman but were unable to save her.
