A three-hour search and rescue operation for a man believed to have fallen from a boat near the Dorset coast has been called off.

The alarm was raised after two men were seen clinging to the side of an overturned boat near the entrance to Poole Harbour at about 10:30 GMT.

Two coastguard helicopters and four RNLI lifeboats carried out a search for a third man who was on board.

The two rescued men were taken to hospital with severe hypothermia.

Coastguard and lifeboat volunteers also carried out a search along the shoreline.
