Two killed in separate crashes in Dorset

One person died and two others were injured when their car was in collision with a fire engine that was responding to an earlier fatal crash.

A male driver died in the first crash which happened on the A35 at Morden Park Corner, in Dorset, shortly before 08:00 BST.

Twenty minutes later, a car was involved in a crash with a fire engine on the nearby B3075.

One car occupant died at the scene and two others suffered serious injuries.

Road closures were put in place on both roads and police have appealed for witnesses.

The two people injured in the second crash were flown by air ambulance to hospital in Southampton.

A joint police and fire service statement said investigations were continuing into the circumstances of the crashes.
