Police officer injured in Bridport road crash

A police officer has been seriously injured in a road crash in Dorset.

The on-duty officer was on foot when he was struck by a flatbed lorry on the A35 near Askers Hill in Bridport shortly after 13:00 BST.

He was treated by ambulance crews at the scene before being taken to hospital in Dorchester with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.

Police said the lorry was registered to a Dorchester company. They are appealing for witnesses.
