Firefighters in Dorset have put out a third major heath fire in four days.

Crews tackled the blaze - said to be around the size of a football pitch - near Poole earlier at Bourne Valley Nature Reserve.

More than 40 emergency calls were received by Dorset Fire and Rescue Service, many from residents in nearby Evering Avenue.

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of arson in connection with two other fires in the county.

Eyewitness Kevin Billington was visiting his parents in St Brelades Avenue, Poole.

He said: "When I got out of the car, you could see the plumes of smoke from the end of the street.

"It's an area of town with lots of properties in cul-de-sacs but firefighters looked to have the blaze, around the size of a football pitch, under control from early on."
