A second man has been arrested following the disappearance of a nurse from Bournemouth.

Rui Li, 44, a nurse at Poole Hospital, was last seen on the evening of 23 May. She was reported missing on Tuesday morning.

A 26-year-old man from Bournemouth has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Detectives have been given more time to question a 60-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder earlier this week. Police said both were known to Ms Li.

Ms Li's 18-year-old daughter, Lu Yao, issued a statement through police in which she said she had last seen her mother, happy and smiling, on Friday night when she returned home from work.

She said: "She prides herself on her timekeeping and my mum has never gone missing before. This is really out of character and I am really worried. I really miss her and I just want her home."

Forensic experts, who had been examining three addresses in Bournemouth, are now searching three more properties.

They have also seized a number of vehicles for examination and are searching for a white Ford Connect van, registration number HD53 FCG, believed to have travelled to Watford on the morning of Saturday 24 May.

One of the properties being examined is a bungalow in Burnham Drive, Charminster, where Ms Li is believed to have been living.

A nearby pathway was sealed off with police dog units called to the scene.

A car repair workshop in St Clement's Road in Boscombe has also been searched.

On Thursday detectives released a CCTV image showing Ms Li's car.

Her Porsche Boxster, which has a personalised number plate, was later recovered from an address on Wolverton Road in Boscombe.

Ms Li came to the UK from China with her daughter about 10 years ago and has been a nurse at Poole Hospital since April 2009, where she currently works in the medical investigations unit.

A police statement said: "We know that she was a reliable and hardworking nurse at Poole Hospital, who was popular with her colleagues, and also that she enjoyed outdoors activities, including climbing.

"However, since moving to the UK from China around a decade ago, she has also led quite a private personal life."
