A rambler has died after falling 50ft (15m) down a cliff and into the sea in Dorset.

The woman, 68, was on an organised guided walk with the Amersham Ramblers Group when she slipped from the coastal path near Worth Matravers in Purbeck.

She was airlifted to hospital by the coastguard helicopter on Tuesday but was later pronounced dead.

Police said, as there were no suspicious circumstances, the case had been handed to the coroner.

The woman had been on a trip booked through HF Holidays.

The company's chief executive, Jim Forward, said: "Everyone at HF Holidays is shocked and saddened by this accident, and our thoughts are with her family and friends."

Staff from the firm are providing assistance to the woman's family and fellow ramblers.
