A body found washed up on the coast of Dorset is believed to be that of a missing man who sparked a major search, police have said.

Nigel Day was last seen at his home in Portland Road, Wyke Regis, on 3 March.

His wet clothes were found on Chesil Beach two days later, sparking a search by police and the coastguard helicopter.

A body found on Sunday is now thought to be that of Mr Day, 52. His next of kin and the coroner have been informed.

Police said the death was not being treated as suspicious.
