Second arrest after woman, 42, dies in Boscombe collision

A second man has been arrested as investigations continue into the death of a woman struck by a car.

The 42-year-old died shortly after the collision on Christchurch Road in Boscombe, Dorset, on Saturday morning.

A white Peugeot 106 involved failed to stop at the scene and was found abandoned a short time after in Boscombe Overcliff Drive.

A 25-year-old man from Hertfordshire was arrested on the M3 on Saturday evening and is being held in custody.

Dorset Police are appealing for two potential witnesses to come forward.

"We suspect two women may have been passengers in the white Peugeot 106 at the time of the collision or shortly after," said Insp Matt Butler.

"I would urge these women to please come forward and speak to us as I believe they may have important information that could assist our investigation."

A 34-year-old Bournemouth man, arrested shortly after the collision between Knyveton Road and Knole Road at 01:10 BST, was released without charge.

Police would also like to hear from anyone who saw the vehicle in the area before or after the collision or who was in Boscombe at the time with CCTV fitted to their car to contact them.
