Climber rescued after Portland quarry fall

A climber has been airlifted to hospital after falling more than 20ft (6m) at a disused Dorset quarry.

The 30-year-old man was climbing alone in Tout Quarry nature reserve in Portland when he fell some time before 09:00 GMT.

Police, specialist paramedics and coastguard crews found and treated the injured man.

He was flown to hospital in Southampton on board the coastguard helicopter with suspected spinal injuries.
