A man has been taken to hospital after a car plunged into the water at a fishing quay.

Lifeboat crews were sent Fisherman Dock on Poole Quay, Dorset, at about 22:00 GMT on Friday.

The man was rescued from the water but a search continued as it was initially thought there were more people inside the vehicle, Poole Lifeboat said.

However, "nothing untoward" was discovered and the search was called off at about 00:30.

The condition of the man is not known.
