Knifemen threaten couple in Essex raid

Two men armed with knives threatened and robbed a couple in their home in Essex while their children were asleep in bed.

The raid happened in Saxon Gardens, Shoeburyness, late on Tuesday evening.

Police described the attackers as white, of medium build and in their late teens or early 20s.

One was wearing a khaki green trench coat and was about 5ft 8in. The other, in a dark coloured hoodie with a white circular motif, was about 5ft 6in.

They took cash, a Playstation 3, a 42 in plasma television, a Wii console, an Xbox, two Nokia mobile phones, an ipod dock and an Nintendo DS lite.

Pc Richard Walker said: "This was a horrendous incident for the couple whose children were upstairs.

"I would appeal to anybody who saw anything suspicious to come forward.

"We believe the suspects got into a vehicle parked in Saxon Gardens. If anyone saw the men or the vehicle please get in touch with us."
