Two men 'critical' after motorcycle crash in Essex

A crash has left a motorcyclist and his pillion passenger with life-threatening injuries, Essex Police have said.

The accident happened near Grays when the motorcyclist appears to have lost control of a Suzuki GSF on the A1089 Dock Approach Road.

The bike struck the crash barrier leaving the 42-year-old rider from Basildon with serious leg injuries.

The 35-year-old pillion passenger, also from Basildon, has serious pelvic and internal injuries.

Both men were taken to Basildon University Hospital by ambulance and their conditions are described as critical and life-threatening.

A section of the road was closed for six hours while forensic investigators gathered evidence to help establish the cause of the crash, an Essex Police spokesman said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Essex Police.
