A man has been jailed for five years for the manslaughter of a 46-year-old in Essex.

Colin Ricketts, from Basildon, was stabbed and died on 26 April 2009.

Lee Byatt, 33, was charged with murder but a guilty plea of manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility was accepted in May.

Byatt, from Laindon, suffered paranoid delusions, Southwark Crown Court heard. He was sentenced to five years in jail but has already served 479 days.

He was told he will spend another three years and 251 days in jail and will be on licence for the rest of his life.
