Investigations have begun into the cause of a fire which destroyed a derelict restaurant in Essex.

More than 30 firefighters worked for five hours at the former Lang Viet site in London Road, West Thurrock. The fire was put out by 2145 BST on Friday.

Assistant divisional officer Iain Macleod said crews did an excellent job in preventing the fire from spreading to surrounding properties.

The fire service and police are carrying out a joint investigation.
