Man hit by bus in Loughton dies in hospital

An elderly man who was hit by a double-decker bus in Essex has died in hospital.

Walter Morris, 76, of Loughton, was injured in Church Hill in the town on Monday morning.

He was taken by air ambulance to Queens Hospital, Romford, in a critical condition, but died earlier, police said.

A 42-year-old man from north-west London has been arrested and bailed in connection with the incident.

Police appealed for bus passengers and other witnesses to the accident at 0800 BST to contact officers.
