A 17-year-old girl and a 20-year-old man have been charged after a crash which left a cyclist seriously injured.
They are accused of wounding with intent, aggravated vehicle-taking, causing grievous bodily harm and dangerous driving.
The incident, on Station Road in Ingatestone on 28 February, involved a Transit van, police said.
The pair are due at Grays Magistrates Court on 9 September. The cyclist, 34, is recovering at home, police said.
The man also faces three other driving-related charges.
No action is to be taken against three other people who were arrested; a 43-year-old man, a woman, also 43, both from Ingatestone, and a 29-year-old Croydon man.
