Toddler seriously hurt in Southend crash

A two-year-old boy has been seriously hurt in a crash involving four vehicles in Essex.

A van, Peugeot Sport, Volvo Vectra and Fiat Punto crashed in Sutton Road, Southend, at 1000 BST.

A Hockley woman has been taken to Royal London Hospital with serious injuries and the boy has been transferred to Great Ormond Street Hospital.

A 55-year-old man from Rayleigh has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

A woman from Southend suffered a broken elbow and broken foot.

The road was closed for six hours while the scene was examined and cleared.
