A 22-year-old footballer whose body was found in a river after he went out with teammates on New Year's Eve died accidentally, a corner has ruled.

Adam Passfield, from Sharpington Close, Galleywood, was found dead in the River Chelmer, Chelmsford, on New Year's Eve.

He was on an evening out in the town with friends and teammates from Heybridge Swifts Football Club on 19 December when he went missing.

He said Mr Passfield had been playing with the reserve team to regain fitness following a long-term injury.
