Car driver killed in lorry crash on A13 in Essex

A car driver has died in a collision with a lorry on the A13 in Essex just as the rush hour was beginning.

The crash occurred at about 0700 BST on the Southend-bound carriageway between the M25 and Grays junctions.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision to contact them but gave no further details of the man who died or the lorry driver.

Only one lane of three on the affected carriageway is currently open and there is congestion in the area.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is under way and police have also asked for information.
