A man is charged with murder of his father in Basildon

A 42-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his father at a house in Essex.

Royston Green, 78, was found dead at his home address in Railway Approach, Basildon, on Saturday.

Maurice Green, 42, of the same address, appeared at Basildon Magistrates' Court on Monday having been charged with his murder.

Mr Green was remanded into the custody of the court until Wednesday.
