Man charged over University of Essex sex attack

A 22-year-old man has been charged with two counts of attempted rape after a female student was attacked at the University of Essex.

The 18-year-old victim was attacked on 7 October as she walked along a path behind a lecture theatre.

She had been at a nightclub on campus and was attacked at about 0200 BST.

Police said a man from Colchester has been charged and bailed until 23 December when he is due to appear before magistrates in the town.
