Essex man sentenced for M11 fatal crash

A man has been sentenced over a crash on the M11 in which a passenger died.

Claire Gaskin, 50, of Ware, Hertfordshire, was travelling in a Ford Mondeo when it was struck by Joseph Fisk's van at Loughton in March 2009.

Fisk, 41, of Cromwell Road, Little Dunmow, admitted the two charges of causing death while driving without insurance and without a licence.

He was given a 12-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, at Chelmsford Crown Court.

He was also ordered to carry out 350 hours of unpaid work, given a night-time curfew for three months and banned from driving for two years.

The crash, which happened shortly before midnight on 27 March, involved five vehicles.
