Voting has opened for the Panic Awards which celebrate the best unsigned bands and music venues in mid Essex.

The event includes categories for best band, top DJ, best music venue and theatre production.

The winners will be announced at the Civic Theatre in Chelmsford on Tuesday, 19 April.

"This year's awards is a real mix of genres, a testament to Chelmsford's eclectic music scene," organiser Andy Poole told BBC Introducing in Essex.

In 2010 Seven Summers, fronted by X Factor winner Matt Cardle, won best band before he shot to stardom.

The full list of nominees can be found at the Panic Awards website.
