Braintree murder victim identified by police

Police have named a woman found dead in a house in Braintree, Essex.

Tina Bennett, 47, was found with serious neck injuries in Keeble Way by police on Sunday afternoon. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem examination has been carried out and found the preliminary cause of death was stab wounds.

A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is being questioned by officers at Braintree police station.

Det Ch Insp Simon Parkes, from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, said: "I would like to hear from anyone who may have been in the area from 2030 BST on the evening of Saturday 23 April.

"No matter how small or insignificant that information may seem, please get in touch as it could be the vital piece of the jigsaw."
