Sex attacker wanted after serious assault in Essex

A woman has been subjected to a serious sexual assault at a recreation ground in Essex.

Police were called to Vange Hill Drive, Basildon after the victim reported being attacked behind the community centre on Friday night.

The woman, in her 20s from Basildon, said she had been attacked between 2200 and 2300 BST.

The attack happened on an area of a recreation ground known locally as the "Golfy Field".

Det Ch Insp Mark Hall of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate said: "We want to hear from anyone who was in the area and may have heard or seen the assault or events leading up to it.

"We believe that the man involved was white, aged between 50 and 60, of fat build and with facial stubble."
