Police talk to footballer injured in Essex

A footballer who is in hospital after being seriously injured in an assault outside an Essex nightclub has been interviewed by police.

Billericay Town goalkeeper Nicky Morgan, 25, was taken to the Queen's Hospital in Romford with a neck injury following the attack on 28 October.

The attack happened following an altercation between 10 men behind the Sugar Hut in Brentwood.

Police said the footballer still had limited mobility.

He is waiting for a referral to a specialist rehabilitation unit.

Police have identified a number of people who were involved in the incident but particularly want to interview one man.

He was wearing a white T-shirt and became involved in the incident where punches were thrown before two men fell to the ground and the victim sustained a head injury.

Officers have urged him to contact Essex Police.
