Two men have been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences after shots were fired into an empty car in Essex.

Armed police were called to Mill Road in Billericay last Thursday evening after receiving reports of gunfire.

Two 26-year-old men, one from Benfleet and the other of no fixed address, are currently in police custody.

Police said they were keen to speak to witnesses, particularly anyone who saw a white BMW with a black soft top in the area at about 19:00 BST.

The shots were fired from a passing vehicle into an empty car.

The car was damaged but no-one was injured.
