Workers at the Port of Tilbury in Essex are taking part in a 48-hour strike over contracts and pay.

About 40 staff at the Enterprise Distribution Centre (EDC) started the action at 22:00 BST on Sunday.

It is the third strike this month by members of the Unite union, who are in dispute with the port's management over new contracts which they say would cause workers to lose £2,500 a year.

A Port of Tilbury spokesman called the action "unnecessary and senseless".
