Essex officer cautioned over 'police kit theft'
An Essex Police officer has resigned after accepting a caution for the theft of police equipment, the force said.
The unnamed officer was found to have at least 10 pieces of kit when officers visited his home in Essex.
Officers began an investigation after being contacted by a company that buys old police uniforms. The equipment was recovered with none sold, police said.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "The officer admitted what he had done. He resigned after being given a caution."
The spokesman said the decision to issue a police caution, on 25 June, was judged to be in the "public interest".
