A man has been summonsed to court after four champagne diners racked up a £520 bill before fleeing from a restaurant.

Milsoms, in Dedham, Essex, said three men and one woman drank two £150 bottles of champagne and ate steak and lamb before leaving on 16 February.

The restaurant said someone had come forward after the group were caught on CCTV, but no payment had been received.

Police said a 28-year-old man from Southend would appear at Colchester Magistrates' Court on 10 May.

The Crown Prosecution Service ordered the summons after police questioned the man earlier in the month.

A 46-year-old woman from Colchester who was arrested in March on suspicion of making off without payment was released without charge.
