Essex man hurt by falling plank treated at Romford hospital

A pedestrian was seriously injured when he was struck on the head by a falling plank.

It is thought the plank had fallen from a lorry.

The man, who is in his 40s and from the Colchester area, is in a serious but stable condition at Queens Hospital, Romford with a head injury.

Police have appealed for anybody who saw the accident, at about 08:00 BST in Hythe Quay, to contact them.
