A man has been beaten unconscious by five men who then filmed him on their mobile phones, police have said.

The attack happened at about 21:30 BST on Thursday when the victim was walking behind Harlow's Tilegate Road library.

Five men, described as being white and in their late teens or early 20s, punched and kicked him to the ground.

Det Con Ryan Burgess said: "This is a disgusting, senseless attack and we want to identify these violent thugs as soon as possible."

All of the attackers were wearing grey tracksuits, police said.

The victim, who is 49 years old, was taken to hospital with a fractured eye socket and other facial injuries.

He is said to be in a stable condition.
