Essex Police makes arrests in Purfleet van theft case

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a driver suffered "terrible injuries" when his van was stolen.

The driver was making a delivery Purfleet, Essex, when two suspects jumped into the vehicle and drove off.

The victim, in his 50s and from the Havering area, clung to the outside of the cab, Essex Police said.

The two men, aged 26 and 28 years old and from Purfleet, were arrested in Grays at about 02:00 BST on Wednesday.

The driver remains in a critical condition at the Royal London Hospital.

Police are continuing to appeal for anybody with information about what happened in Wood Avenue at about 12:20 BST on Tuesday to come forward.
