A man arrested in connection with the murder of a teenager in Essex has been charged with affray.

Jay Whiston, 17, from Clacton, was stabbed at a house party on Marlowe Way, Colchester, just after 22:00 BST on Saturday 8 September last year.

He died a short time later in hospital and a post-mortem examination showed the cause of death as a stab wound.

The 18-year-old Colchester man charged with affray was granted bail to appear before town magistrates on 13 August.

Two 19-year-old men from Colchester, also arrested in connection with the murder, have been released from their bail with no further action to be taken.

Two men and a woman arrested in mid-November 2012 on suspicion of assisting an offender have been re-bailed pending further inquiries until Wednesday 14 August.

They are a 51-year-old man, a 19-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman, all from Colchester.
