Southend sexual exploitation: Two men charged with offences

Two men from London have been charged with various sexual offences following an inquiry into the exploitation of underage girls in Southend.

Three teenagers alleged they had been raped in 2012, Essex Police said.

Colin Trotman, 45, from Hackney, and Glenn Dyett, 54, from Clapton, have been charged with offences including conspiring to engage in sexual activity.

They are due to appear before Southend magistrates on Thursday.

Police said the inquiry related to the period August-November 2012.

Mr Trotman, of Wetherell Road, has also been charged with two counts of rape against the same victim, two counts of engaging in sexual activity with two underage teenage girls and one count of observing a person doing a private act for sexual gratification.

Mr Dyett, of Elderfield Road, has also been charged with sexual touching, three counts of engaging in sexual activity with an underage teenage girl and one count of grooming an underage teenage girl.

A 34-year-old man from Shadwell, east London, is due to answer police bail in September after being arrested in July as part of the same inquiry.
