Manic Street Preachers pull out of Chelmsford V Festival
Welsh rock band the Manic Street Preachers have cancelled their appearance at V Festival in Essex.
Posting on Twitter the band said it was "with huge regret" they had to announce "the cancellation" of their "show in Chelmsford" on Saturday.
They had been due to play after the Sziget Festival in Budapest but "after five hours on the runway" in Hungary were told their plane "would not fly."
The band said they would be playing at V Festival in Staffordshire on Sunday.
They had been due to play before headliners Elbow on the MTV Stage at Hylands Park.
Manics members Nicky Wire, James Dean Bradfield and Sean Moore tweeted they had made "every endeavour to get back to the UK in time to play".
They added: "The band apologise to their fans at V Chelmsford for the cancellation."
At about 00:30 BST they posted on Twitter that they had arrived at a hotel in Birmingham after 18 hours of travelling.
"Worst travel day in 22yrs of the band-deepest apologies we tried everything," they said.
