Rayleigh car crash leaves man dead and teenage girls hurt

A man died and two teenage girls were injured when a car hit a telegraph pole.

The crash, which only involved a silver BMW, took place at 03:00 GMT on Hockley Road in Rayleigh, Essex.

A 31-year-old man, from Rochford, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The dead man, aged in his 20s, was from Leigh-on-Sea near Southend. The girls, aged 17 and 18 and from Hockley, were treated for minor injuries.
