Dagenham man jailed after attacking officer and hijacking police car

A motorist who attacked a police officer before hijacking his patrol car has been jailed.

Tony Turner, 36, of Vincent Road, Dagenham, was being breathalysed following a crash in Chigwell, Essex, on 31 October when he assaulted the officer and took the car, which had a police dog in the back.

The car was later found in Romford.

Turner was jailed for a total of 30 months when he appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court.

He was given 18 months for occasioning actual bodily harm, plus 12 months for possessing identity documents with intent.

The judge also sentenced him to 15 months' imprisonment for aggravated vehicle-taking, to run concurrently.
