Fatal Hullbridge robbery: Man arrested in Scotland

A man has been arrested in connection with a robbery in which a second man died.

Andrew McVicar, 33, from Basildon, Essex, was arrested on Friday morning in north Lanarkshire.

The arrest - made jointly by Police Scotland and Essex Police - follows a robbery in The Drive, Hullbridge, on 19 March in which Timothy Smith, 57, died.

Essex Police said its murder investigation into Mr Smith's death was "continuing".

Mr Smith died two days later from head injuries.

A 50-year-old man from Southend has already been charged with robbery and a 28-year-old man from Basildon was charged with possession of criminal property.
