World War I medals originally belonging to a Gloucester pensioner's father have been stolen.

The four medals, inscribed with the name Excell, were taken from the 76-year-old man's home while he was out on 17 June.

The thieves also stole two running medals, a mobile phone, a camera and a gold Smiths watch, also inscribed with Excell.

Police said the items had "real sentimental value" to the victim.

Anyone who is offered them is asked to contact the force
