Public toilets in Cheltenham have been closed after vandals sprayed hand wash basins with a violet-coloured hair dye.

Specialist cleaners have been brought in to clear up the men's toilets in Montpelier Gardens.

The toilets, which were vandalised on Monday, would be closed for a few days the council said.

"A lot of money was spent on improving these toilets a couple of years ago, so it's really disappointing this has happened," said spokesman John Marcer.
