A couple from Gloucestershire were threatened with a gun during a burglary at their home.
Police were called to the property at Cliffords Mesne, near Newent, on Tuesday morning following reports of the robbery.
A Gloucestershire Police spokesman said a man threatened the occupants before tying them up.
The offender is described as being in his 20s, wearing a black balaclava. He spoke with a local accent.
"Detectives were told the man was either carrying a shotgun or a replica firearm," the spokesman said.
"He stole a mobile phone and £400 in cash before leaving in a car and making off towards May Hill.
"The couple were shaken but uninjured by the incident."
