Christmas recycling encouraged in Gloucestershire

  • Published

People in Gloucestershire are being encouraged to recycle Christmas trees, cards and unwanted electrical items.

Cards can be dropped off in Woodland Trust recycling bins at branches of Marks and Spencer, TK Maxx and HomeSense across the county in January.

Trees can be taken to recycling centres and in some areas will be collected from the kerbside with garden waste.

The council is also urging people to take old electrical goods to household recycling centres.

Gloucestershire County Council is aiming to recycle and compost at least 60% of household waste by 2020.

It said it is expecting to pay £7m in landfill tax this year and has strict landfill targets to meet over the next nine years.
