Gloucestershire student arrested in child sex inquiry

A student at a Gloucestershire school has been arrested in connection with child sex offences, police have said.

The 17-year-old male, from Downfield Sixth Form, was arrested on suspicion of using the internet to commit sexual offences against numerous children.

The boy has been released on police bail until May, pending further inquiries.

Police and social services are contacting possible victims and their families.

Downfield Sixth Form, in Stroud, is shared between Marling Grammar School for Boys and Stroud High School for Girls.

The institution also takes in students from other schools and colleges in the area.
