Man arrested after two hours on Gloucestershire roof

A man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and criminal damage after a two-hour stand off on a Gloucestershire roof.

Police said he climbed on top of a house in North Avenue, Drybrook just before 1800 GMT on Thursday.

The area was cordoned off and police negotiators were sent. A police car was damaged by scaffolding thrown from the roof during the incident.

A 32-year-old man from Droitwich in Worcestershire remains in custody.

The force spokesman said the man finally came down.

Nobody was injured during the incident.
