Woman dies after bus and car crash in Cinderford

A woman has died after her car was in a collision with a double decker bus in Gloucestershire.

A young boy who was in the silver Vauxhall Astra with her is in a serious condition in hospital, a police spokesman said.

The crash, which involved a number 31 Stagecoach bus, happened on the A4151 at Littledean Hill in Cinderford at about 1140 GMT.

A police spokesman said the road was likely to be closed for several hours.

'Shopping bags'

The Gloucestershire Police spokesman said the woman, believed to be in her early 20s, was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital with serious injuries, but died.

Police, the fire service and paramedics attended the scene.

The spokesman said a passenger on the bus suffered minor injuries.

He appealed for witnesses, especially a cyclist thought to be in his 20s who had several shopping bags on the handlebars of his bicycle and may have seen the crash.

He also asked passengers on the bus, which was travelling towards Christchurch and Coleford, to contact the force.
