Driver killed in Gloucestershire when car hits tree

A 22-year-old man from Gloucestershire has died in a car crash near Birdlip.

The accident, which happened on Buckholt Road at around 1945 GMT on Monday, involved one vehicle - a green Subaru Impreza.

A Gloucestershire Police spokeswoman said the driver of the car had apparently lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a tree.

"The man, from Andoversford, was pronounced dead at the scene," she said.

A 16-year-old female passenger from Stonehouse was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The road was closed for seven hours whilst the accident was investigated.
